SimuLaTION aND mODELLING

In today class, we have learned about simulation and modelling. At the early of the class, Prof Dr Sopia teaches us what is the simulation and modelling all about. At first, my group members and I don’t know how to differentiate between simulation and modelling. We thought both of them are same. After being explained and being introduced to a few simulation and modelling examples, we finally can find out the differences between both of them. Simulation usually appears in video form. It usually used by teacher in teaching and learning process. In Biology subject, there are many biological processes that occur and cannot be seen through the naked eye. So, by using the simulation, hope that it will help the teacher to explain the process occur by using animation and video. Modelling is something that we can manipulate. It usually appears in the experiment forms. In using modelling, we can directly know about the topic because by using modelling, we can manipulate the variable. We also can know what happen if we do something on that experiment. We choose diffusion as our task in modelling. In this sample, we can manipulate the variable that present there. For example, we directly can know what happen to the diffusion process if we change the concentration gradient. So, as the conclusion, simulation and modelling can give much advantage to help teaching and learning process.

The advantages are:
1) Help students more understands about the topic.
2) Create the imaginative thinking among students.
3) Help teacher visualize the process that cannot be seen by naked eyes
4) Attract student’s interest to study this topic.
5) Develop the creative idea among students.
