rEFLECTIon oVERall....

During my first ICT class, I actually don’t know what I am going to learn in this course. I know this class is about learning about the information technology, but I didn’t expect that I am going to learn many new things. There are many things that my course mate and I learn in this course. Firstly, we have been introduced with Interactive White Board (IWB). This is the first time that I see the white board that we only need to touch to its screen in order to manipulate and using this teaching and learning aids material. There is much software that we need to install in order to use with this IWB. One of the software is notebook software. The most interesting application in this IWB is doing dissecting of frog through this application. It is more interest because we can doing the practical beside learning about the theoretical.

Next, we also learn about blogging. We are given task to manage and complete our personal educational blog. In our first class in doing blog, we were thought about how to publish document by En Junaidi. To publish document through Scribd or Googledocs, we must create Google accounts first.. Scribd is a document-sharing website which allows users to post documents of various formats, and embed them into a web page using its iPaper formatAll major document types can be formatted into iPaper including Word docs, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, OpenOffice documents, and PostScript files. Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, and form application offered by Google. It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating in real-time with other users. The document can be easily published by using Scribd or Googledocs
Then, we were teaching about Smart School concept in Malaysia. Firstly, we were been introduced what is the Smart School. Smart School is the school that has advance facilities and the other infrastructures. This school used mostly ICT application in the administration and also used in teaching and learning process. Then, Prof. Dr Sopia allow us to discuss about the advantage of Smart School, the future of this school and other issues. This is website that can be visited to know more about Smart School Concept:

http://mscmalaysia.my/smartschool/
We were also being teaching about Picasa. Picasa is software that can be used to edit the picture to make it nicer. This software are easily to use and can be free download. Besides organizing and editing picture, Picasa also can be used to make collage where we can attach many pictures in this collage. Beside that Picasa also can be used to make video.
In this ICT class, we also learn about the data logger. Firstly, we actually don't know what the data logger is. After being explained and being introduced to this device, we finally know what data logger is. Actually, a data logger is an electronic device that records data over time or in relation to location either with a built in instrument or sensor or via external instruments and sensors. Increasingly, but not entirely, they are based on a digital processor or computer. They generally are small, battery powered, portable, and equipped with a microprocessor, internal memory for data storage, and sensors. To use this data logger, we have to install the software that will enable us to activate data logger and view and analyze the collected data. Data loggers vary between general purpose types for a range of measurement applications to very specific devices for measuring in one environment or application type only. We were introduced with the data logger of humidity, temperature, oxygen dissolved, and sensor to measure heart beat and so on. There are many benefits that we can get in using data logger. One of the primary benefits of using data loggers is the ability to automatically collect data on a 24-hour basis. Upon activation, data loggers are typically deployed and left unattended to measure and record information for the duration of the monitoring period. This allows for a comprehensive, accurate picture of the environmental conditions being monitored, such as air temperature and relative humidity.
For the next class we have learned about simulation and modelling. At the early of the class, Prof Dr Sopia teaches us what is the simulation and modelling all about. At first, my group members and I don’t know how to differentiate between simulation and modelling. We thought both of them are same. After being explained and being introduced to a few simulation and modelling examples, we finally can find out the differences between both of them. Simulation usually appears in video form. It usually used by teacher in teaching and learning process. In Biology subject, there are many biological processes that occur and cannot be seen through the naked eye. So, by using the simulation, hope that it will help the teacher to explain the process occur by using animation and video. Modelling is something that we can manipulate. It usually appears in the experiment forms. In using modelling, we can directly know about the topic because by using modelling, we can manipulate the variable. We also can know what happen if we do something on that experiment. We choose diffusion as our task in modelling. In this sample, we can manipulate the variable that present there. For example, we directly can know what happen to the diffusion process if we change the concentration gradient. So, as the conclusion, simulation and modelling can give much advantage to help teaching and learning process. The advantages are help students more understands about the topic, create the imaginative thinking among students, help teacher visualize the process that cannot be seen by naked eyes, attract student’s interest to study this topic and develop the creative idea among students. This is a few website that we in our simulation and modelling task that is http://mw.concord.org/modeler/ and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gq8NWh98wQs

For overall, this course helps me in improving my ability in using ICT. Besides that, it also opens my mind and broadens my own perspective about learning ICT. It is because, before learning this subject, I think this subject is difficult to learn. I hope that I can practice what I have learned now in teaching and learning at school future.

In today class, we were be teaching about Picasa. Picasa is a software that can be used to edit the picture to make it more nice. This software are easily to use and can be down loadable. Beside editing picture, Picasa also can be used to make collage where we can attach many pictures in this collage. Beside that Picasa also can be used to make video . Most of my friends in Chemistry Programme used Picasa to make corporate video.

Statement below will explain what the Picasa all about :

Picasa is a software application for organizing and editing digital photos, originally created by Idealab and owned by Google since 2004. "Picasa" is a blend of the name of Spanish painter Pablo Picasso, the phrase mi casa for "my house" and "pic" for pictures (personalized art). In July 2004, Google acquired Picasa and began offering it as a free download. At the time of the acquisition, the company's management team consisted of Lars Perkins as CEO, Mike Herf as CTO, and Dan Engel as VP Market Development.

Native applications for Windows XP, Windows Vista and Mac OS X are available through Google Labs. For Linux Google has bundled Wine with the Windows version to create an installation package rather than write a native Linux version. For Windows 98 and Windows Me, only an older version is available.

In our first class, we were thought about how to publish document. the document can be easily published by using Scribd or Googledocs.

Scribd is a document-sharing website which allows users to post documents of various formats, and embed them into a web page using its iPaper format. iPaper is a rich document format similar to PDF built for the web, which allows users to embed documents into a web page. iPaper was built with Adobe Flash, allowing it to be viewed the same across different operating systems (Windows, Mac OS, and Linux) without conversion, as long as the reader has Flash installed. All major document types can be formatted into iPaper including Word docs, PowerPoint presentations, PDFs, OpenOffice documents, and PostScript files. All iPaper documents are hosted on Scribd. Scribd allows published documents to either be private or open to the larger Scribd community. The iPaper document viewer is also embeddable in any website or blog, making it simple to embed documents in their original layout regardless of file format.

Google Docs is a free, Web-based word processor, spreadsheet, presentation, and form application offered by Google. It allows users to create and edit documents online while collaborating in real-time with other users.

Increasingly, but not entirely, they are based on a digital processor or computer. They generally are small, battery powered, portable, and equipped with a microprocessor, internal memory for data storage, and sensors. Some data loggers interface with a personal computer and utilize software to activate the data logger and view and analyze the collected data, while others have a local interface device (keypad, LCD) and can be used as a stand-alone device.

Data loggers vary between general purpose types for a range of measurement applications to very specific devices for measuring in one environment or application type only. It is common for general purpose types to be programmable however many remain as static machines with only a limited number or no changeable parameters. Electronic data loggers have replaced chart recorders in many applications.

One of the primary benefits of using data loggers is the ability to automatically collect data on a 24-hour basis. Upon activation, data loggers are typically deployed and left unattended to measure and record information for the duration of the monitoring period. We also being introduced with a few types of sensor that used with data logger. The sensor are sensor for humidity, temperature, oxygen dissolved, sensor to measure heart beat and so on.

My TeacHing PhiloSOPhY

Teaching is a noble profession. It has the potential to have a great impact in the molding at the next generation.

In education field, a teacher is a person who educates others. Teachers nowadays mostly act as a tutor which helps theirs students in their studies. Sometimes, a teacher professional’s duties may extend beyond formal teaching. They might be involved in outside activities such as accompany students on field trips, help school organization and act as supervisor for extracurricular activities.

Teaching professions needs broad knowledge of the lesson, curriculum, enthusiasm, knowledge of manage student’s disciplines, knowledge in classroom management techniques and a teacher also should have a caring attitude towards other person.

Being a great teacher is not easy. A great teacher not only shown by their knowledge but it also shown by their ability to guide students to become success person in the future. A great teacher will produce a great man in the future.

This is my own perspective in the site of teaching profession. I hope that I will be a great teacher in the future. InsyaALLAH…..
